Understanding 'Hero' and 'Cameo' Images in Photography

At Soda Creatives, we have a unique approach to categorising our photographs during shoots. We primarily classify them into two types: 'Hero' and 'Cameo' images. Understanding the difference between these two can help you make the most of our photography services.

What are 'Hero' Images?

'Hero' images are the main photographs from our shoots. They require a considerable amount of planning and effort. But, the hard work doesn't stop at the shoot. A significant amount of time and energy is also invested in the editing phase. This is due to the complexity involved, such as the need for multiple exposures, the use of artificial lighting, reliance on additional equipment, and intensive editing.

Our 'Hero' images include:

  • Extensive internal and external property photos

  • Editorial internal and external property photos

  • Product shoots / Ecommerce photos

  • Portraits

What are 'Cameo' Images?

On the other hand, 'Cameo' images are there to complement our 'Hero' images. They are typically captured handheld with a single exposure and require considerably less time to edit. This often involves editing them in batches. We classify Event/Documentary images as 'Cameo' images due to their spontaneous nature and straightforward editing process.

Why the Distinction Matters?

Both 'Hero' and 'Cameo' images are essential in marketing your business. By understanding the difference between these two types, we can provide more accurate quotes tailored to your needs. This ensures a comprehensive and effective visual strategy for your business. So, the next time you plan a shoot with us, remember to consider the balance between 'Hero' and 'Cameo' images to get the most out of our services.
