Stop Creating Content that Dies in a Day. Create Resources that Last for Years
Its happening…. its actually happening. Our newsletter is coming (make sure you sign up!). Truth be told it hasn't been a top priority of mine but ours socials are looking so sad and if I post one more portfolio share I might just… well I don’t know what I will do but something has to change. The reason for this social slump. Ummm I don’t really have a good excuse except for the fact that creating short form content again and again is soul crushing and time sucking and I get burn out every time I get a good rhythm (which means the rhythm ain’t so good). So here I am pivoting in the direction long form content, for many reasons which Ill list below, but mainly so I can chop its up into itty bitty pieces and slot it in as short form content.
Ok so I know why Im focusing more on long form content but why should you???
1. You'll Actually Show Up in Search Results
Long-form content naturally packs in more keywords without looking like like you added a million keywords (insert niche here - Gippsland Photographer and Social Media Marketer). Plus, when people stick around to actually read your content, search engines are like "Hey, this must be something good!" (because it is wink wink nudge nudge) And bonus: quality content attracts natural backlinks, which is like digital gold for your website.
2. You'll Be The Expert Everyone Won't Shut Up About
When you dive deep into topics, you're not just creating content – you're showcasing your expertise. Detailed guides and analysis pieces tell the world "I know my sh*t!" And while everyone else is posting quick tips, you'll be the thought leader people actually remember and go looking for. And let's be honest, quick tips get lost because we can't remember where we saved them (or maybe that's just me).
3. You're Building Real Connections (Not Just Collecting Likes)
Long-form content lets you actually solve real problems and address various pain points. Plus, you get space to include videos, infographics, and interactive elements that make your content shine. When you provide substantial value, people keep coming back for more.
4. You're Attracting Better Leads (Goodbye Time-Wasters!)
Here's the thing: people who take time to read detailed content are usually more serious about solving their problems. They're not just scrolling mindlessly – they're actively looking for solutions. That means better leads and easier conversions.
5. Work Smarter, Not Harder (Your Content Can Multi-Task)
And finally my main reason so moving into long form content. One solid piece of long-form content can be transformed into multiple formats – think social posts, videos, emails, and more. It's way more efficient than constantly creating new, disconnected content.
Remember, investing in long-form content isn't just about writing (or filming) more – it's about creating lasting value that builds your authority, engages your audience, and grows your business. So what are you waiting for? Its time to invest your energy into to create something that outlasts those 24-hour stories!
